Did you know that SameTime's visibility setting is bi-directional?
Yeah, you probably did.
There were a few folks at my new job who were still in the dark, though. On the off chance any of you are wondering what the heck I'm talking about, SameTime allows you to define which people can see your online status. The funny thing is, though, that when you list only 3 people who can see you, you suddenly find yourself unable to see anyone other than those 3 people. It's a known feature, nothing new here, not a bug or anything. I can see why people get confused, though. After all, the dialog box you use to configure this setting doesn't say anything about whether or not you can see other people. I've spent a couple of hours in the last three weeks explaining it to various people. Just a *tiny* waste of time. Oh well, no product is perfect...
