Oh, now this is nice.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that people looking for tickets to a rally being held by the GOP (featured speaker: none other than Dick Cheney, Vice President of the United State) were required to sign a statement endorsing the Bush/Cheney campaign. I'm trying to think of something clever to say here, but it would just be redundant. Nothing I can possible say about this could make it look any more pathetic than it already is. So read the article. Then decide if these are the people who should be running the country. And if the answer isn't a resounding, "No!" ask yourself this: Why do you hate the first amendment?

Shoot, I couldn't help it, I had to get snarky. The best part of this: they're keeping out people they might be able to persuade; one of the people quoted in the article explicitly said she hasn't made up her mind yet. After being told she's not welcome, I bet she has now...

2 - I am a liberal. And a fiscal conservative. The current administration is neither. They are radical "conservatives", and in concert with a Republican Party that seems to just degrade each year, the deception, lies, and apparent sinking deeper into a facist mentality is truly shocking. For Bush to announce "You're either with us or against us" was enough of a disgrace. To require folks to pledge to support the Bush campaign before allowing them to hear the PUBLIC officials speak is at LEAST unethical and disgraceful, even if not illegal.
