A US President Who Understands the Power of the Internet
I love this. President-elect Obama has released the weekly Democratic radio address as an online video (on YouTube, Yahoo, AOL, and MSN), and he intends to keep doing that throughout the transition and his administration:
It's still available on the radio, but this is as big a change in communication style as the legendary fireside chats of FDR, the first televised debates of Nixon v Kennedy, or the media savvy of Ronald Reagan. As a geek, I think it's really cool. As an American, I think it's a sign that our government may start to communicate better with us. Having witnessed the use of social media, collaboration, and community involvement in the Obama campaign, it's very exciting to imagine a world where that trend continues all the way up to the federal government.
